Why do you require a retainer?

 

This is standard business practice in the industry. This retainer, with a signed contract, secures our services, work dates, and solidifies commitment from both parties. We don't enter into a project on blind faith (especially when dealing with a first time client), and neither should you. 

Video productions and photography sessions, as you may or may not know, are akin to vehicles that have many moving parts, all of which need to be aligned to run smoothly. From securing locations, equipment rental, scheduling onscreen talent, hair & makeup artists, you are buying people's time. If the client decided to change their mind like the weather and jump around the calendar.. we wouldn't have a business. 

All of this said, I do honor a cancellation policy which you can read below. Thank you.

Cancellation Policy:  

1. Should an unpredictable occurrence arise (i.e., weather related, if the shoot was outdoors, death in the family, illness, etc), the shoot will be rescheduled / rebooked at no penalty.  

2. Should you absolutely find it necessary to cancel, notification must be written by e-mail no later than 48 hours before the scheduled shoot date. You will be charged a percentage for the pre-production/planning work completed up to this point, as per contractual duties.  The remaining balance of the retainer will be returned within 3-5 business days. The work agreement is NOT cancelled until this is received. NO exceptions.
